Dr. Keene was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He went to college in northern Wisconsin (1974-1978), receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. The following fall he started vet school at the University of Illinois. In 1982, he received a bachelor of science degree in veterinary medicine and a doctorate of veterinary medicine. After graduation, he came to Tampa to be closer to his parents who had moved to Florida several years earlier. He worked for the next seven years in a 24-hour practice providing him with invaluable experiences. In 1989, he opened Keene Veterinary Hospital and has been serving the Tampa area ever since. He enjoys practicing medicine, surgery, and loves meeting all of the people and pets that come to our hospital.
